I am a pleasure coach, sexologist, comedienne, singer/songwriter, writer and an international educator and sexual health activist. I am passionate about supporting people to understand and to cultivate the potent healing power of our natural capacity for pleasure.
I fulfil this passion by offering workshops and sessions, both online and in person, by writing and performing theatre, comedy and songs as ‘Vaudeville of the Vulva’ , creating and distributing the Vulvalicious® Cushions and other educational and simply beautiful vulva art via www.yOni.com and most recently by creating a DVD The Art & Science of Female Arousal
My interest in effective communication led to a career as an educator which has spanned two continents and both the academic and corporate worlds. By the age of 28 I was a Senior Lecturer at North London University. In the late 80’s I moved to Australia and worked for Apple Computer teaching Presentation Skills and Effective Communication to upper management. Whilst with the company I also studied Accelerated Learning and NLP in order to refine my skills and incorporate the latest innovative methods into Apple’s training programs.
In early childhood I was lucky enough to discover some of the delicious natural pleasures that our bodies are capable of. Blessed with an upbringing that did not suppress this exploration I was inspired, as an adult, to seek out teachers of sexuality across many traditions and disciplines. The more I found out, and the more I applied my discoveries, the more my capacity for pleasure increased and continues to do so. The teachers I’ve studied and trained with include David Deida, Barbara Carellas, Joseph Kramer, Kenneth Ray Stubbs and Margot Anand. I’ve gained professional qualifications in Sexological Bodywork and Somatic Sex Education and am a member of the Somatic Sex Educators’ Association of Australiasia (SSEAA) and the ASCSB. I have presented the workshops that make up the yOniversity curriculum in Australia, Bali & the UK and I also offers individual sessions to men women and couples in person and via Skype.
My career as a performance artiste has taken me on a different trajectory towards the same goal. In the 90’s I performed, wrote and recorded with women’s choir ‘Voices of Gaia’ and my first solo recording ‘Do the Kegel’ was picked up for use by HBO in a TV show and in a movie by American director Adam Fields. During that time I also trained in Method Acting and Character Analysis with Penelope Chater (NIDA, Nimrod Theatre) and in 2010 I wrote and first performed a comic cabaret ‘Vaudeville of the Vulva’. This unique show challenges societal taboos about the discussion of feminine genitalia. An Australian contribution to the genre that includes Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues and Judy Chicago’s Dinner Party, the show is funny, irreverent and illuminating. A CD of recordings of the songs from ‘Vaudeville of the Vulva’ is now available – songs that address the important, but rarely sung about, area of women’s sexual experience and well-being.
In order to educate men and women effectively and without embarrasment about female sexual anatomy, I went on to create The Vulvalicious Cushions, beautiful fabric sculptures that accurately represent both the internal and external arousal structures of a woman’s genital anatomy. These cushions are used in yOniversity workshops and by educators and vulvalationaries all over the world. They can be purchased online here.
My latest project has been a DVD workshop educating men and women about the mysteries of female pleasure. The Art & Science of Female Arousal has distilled the essential education that I’ve been offering in workshops for the past decade and that is still so sadly missing in our society. It provides an invaluable resource for all women and the men who love them and is available now as a DVD or HD download from www.theartandscienceoffemalearousal.com .
